Relaxed and rustic plaid shirts get a lesson in bad by adding a leather jacket that will become the topper to any uniform.
Shown here: Boss Orange black leather jacket ($545). Zegna Sport long sleeve check button down shirt ($215), plum colored polo ($175) and khaki pants ($245). All available at Bloomingdale’s.
You can go all the way by adding washed out red pants to be the artsy boater, or dial it down with earthy tones and natural fibers that don’t scream “fisherman,” but won’t look like you’re afraid to get your hands dirty.
Shown here: Blue and white striped shawl sweatshirt ($80). Smoke red broken in chino ($75). Leather worn belt ($45). Suede “MacAlister” boots ($148). All available at J. Crew.
Paisley print button down shirt ($55). Winter white cotton pullover ($80). “Jessup” bootcut denim jeans ($90). Olive straw fedora ($25). All available at Banana Republic.
Take it easy with a squared-off jacket, navy blues and simple classic lines. Guy Ritchie would be proud.
Shown here: Burberry Brit quilted field jacket ($695), “Fred” micro-check button down shirt ($195), grey check graphic tee shirt ($125) and “Aldgate” khaki shorts ($110). All available at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Burberry Brit wool and cotton warmer jacket ($695), “Henry” white sportshirt ($195), striped cotton shirt ($120) and dark wash straight leg denim jeans ($195). All available at Saks Fifth Avenue.
All About the Blazer
Color is moving north from pants to blazers. The color, shape, fabric and length all matter. Too long and boxy, and you look dumpy. Too short and tight, and, well…big guy in a little guy’s coat. Choose wisely.
Shown here: Joseph Abboud navy blue blazer ($490). Canali white button down shirt ($265). Zahella camel slacks ($310). Cole Haan mahogany penny loafers ($230). Polo Ralph Lauren orange paisley socks. All available at Bloomingdale’s.
Saks Fifth Avenue red blazer ($498). Vince white cotton tee shirt ($45). Saks Fifth Avenue navy blue wool slacks ($250). To Boot New York chestnut leather lace-ups ($375). Ozone square print socks ($20). All available at Saks Fifth Avenue.
