Relastin

Are you less worried about wrinkles than the effects of gravity? I am! Small wrinkles add character… crêpey necks and chins most definitely do not.
Once we hit puberty, we begin losing elastin, a protein made up of amino acids in the skin. According to MedicineNet.com, this protein “coils and recoils like a spring within the elastic fibers of connective tissue and accounts for the elasticity of structures such as the skin…” It is a trendy ingredient that is showing up in many new products.
Wisegeek.com claims that elastin has been shown to have little effect on elasticity. “It may form a coating on the skin that helps the skin better hold in moisture, but it will not provide more flexibility…” They go on to say this is due to the inability of these products to deliver the elastin below the surface of the skin, where it could have an impact. The folks who created Relastin claim to have busted that roadblock.

One word—outstanding!

Dr. Jacob Waugh, the Chief Scientific Officer of Revance Therapeutics, Inc., the pharmaceutical company that produces Relastin, discovered his key ingredient while experimenting with a specific concentration of zinc. The company’s original goal was to find a better way to move drugs across membranes to improve treatments for heart disease. When the lab insisted the treated veins he sent to them were in fact arteries, he reviewed the slides and discovered that the zinc concentration he had used on the veins made them look like arteries, which naturally have more elastin in them. This “accident” led to the development of Zinc Firming Complex, which is in all Relastin products.
Relastin professes that their products do indeed deliver below the surface to help one’s skin create “functional” elastin. Their clinical studies claim that 84% of users found visible difference after four weeks. As for my results? One word—outstanding!

I used Relastin’s Skin Revitalizer and Ultra Emollient for about three weeks before I noticed that small wrinkles seemed to smooth out nicely, but the best part was that I saw a distinct, noticeable tightening of the skin. Relastin has certainly provided the best firming results I’ve had yet. Someone even commented on the difference, asking me if I had lost weight!

These products are available online at relastin.com, where you can get more information on how it was developed, as well as a suggested skincare plan.
