Tanzania Watoto Fund

Author: Long Island Pulse | Published: Wednesday, October 26, 2011

The Tanzania Watoto Fund is run by Stony Brook University’s International Academic Programs Office and benefits orphanages in Mto wa Mbu, Tanzania. Every summer, Dr. William Arens leads an anthropology-based study abroad program to visit and assist these orphanages along with clinics and schools. Fifty guests recently attended a benefit for the fund at Pentimento Restaurant in Stony Brook Village, featuring live African music, traditional cuisine and original Tanzanian artwork for sale. Over $3,000 in proceeds was raised.
