Hundreds of supporters of the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities (SPLIA) turned out for a benefit at the home of Bernadette Castro and Dr. Peter Guida. Each year, SPLIA chooses a local historic home for their benefit, and this one, overlooking Lloyd Harbor, is known as Panfield.

Long Island Pulse Magazine was delighted to have Oheka Castle host our May cover party to celebrate our Spring Issue and the Gold Coast Mansions of Historic Long Island. Andrew Scott Events designed the exotic floral arrangements, Jilly Live provided the sounds and Event Kings produced the details. Jaguar Huntington & Southampton displayed their latest models while All Star Limo provided VIP service.

2nd Annual Children’s and Family Bereavement Dinner
300 guests attended the recent Hospice Care Network’s (HCN) 22nd Annual Children’s and Family Bereavement Dinner at Land’s End in Sayville. A benefit for HCN’s Children’s and Family Bereavement Program, over $120,000 was raised and the Racanelli family, longtime HCN supporters, was honored.

Designer Night
Elements, a luxury lighting purveyor located in Carle Place recently held a Designer Night networking event. Electrical contractors and builders mingled and guest speakers from leading manufacturers in the lighting industry spoke. Ronald McDonald House was also presented with a check composed of holiday season donations collected by Elements.

Long Beach Chamber of Commerce
The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce recently honored professionals and excelling students at a special meeting at Matteo’s Restaurant, attended by 125 people. Students from Long Beach’s four elementary schools were lauded for winning Reflections Awards in the arts and literature and Nadine and Greg Rosenzweig of  Hertz & Rosenzweig, Tax Accountants we awarded the Professionals of the Month accolade.

The Great Greenlawn Sciencebed Race and Parade 2011
The Great Greenlawn Sciencebed Race and Parade 2011 had beds racing down Broadway in Greenlawn for the simple goal of promoting science in the community and inspiring future scientists. The Science-A-Peel, Inc. charity, and local and national companies sponsored the race, wherein bed-like, wheeled structures sported science-themed decorations and rolled conspicuously down a local road. Greenlawn Engine #1’s Solar System bed won the $600 grand prize.
