In the past few years, Bob Murphy, owner of Bob Murphy’s Violin Shop in Melville, has donated thousands of dollars worth of violins and other stringed orchestra instruments to those in need. After the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, he replaced a youth orchestra’s 42 destroyed instruments and he also supplied free instruments to a Wyandanch school that lacked a music program.
