Neil S. Nichols, M.D.
Dr. Neil S. Nichols is a board certified oculoplastic surgeon specializing in oculofacial plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery. In addition Dr. Nichols has completed fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery.
Dr. Nichols obtained a B.A. in biology from Tufts University with honors, and subsequently earned his medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Dr. Nichols’ post-doctoral training included a one year internship in internal medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine of New York University in affiliation with Elmhurst Hospital Center, followed by an ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College and affiliated hospitals. Dr. Nichols was selected to serve as chief resident in the department of ophthalmology at Westchester Medical Center.
Dr. Nichols engages in continuous education and professional development to stay up to date in the latest technological advances in all aspects of ophthalmic plastics, oculofacial and reconstructive surgery. In addition Dr. Nichols continues to have clinical and research interests in cornea and refractive surgery.
John G. Passarelli, M.D.
Dr. John G. Passarelli, a board certified ophthalmic surgeon, is the Medical Director of the Long Island Ambulatory
Surgery Center, Long Island Eye Surgical Care in Brentwood and the founder of Suffolk Surgery Center in Shirley.
Dr. Passarelli earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and completed his medical school education at the State University of New York Downstate. His ophthalmic training occurred at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in NYC where he achieved chief residency status in ophthalmology.
In addition to the Long Island Ambulatory Surgery Center, Dr. Passarelli is affiliated with several hospitals including Good Samaritan Medical Center, Southside Hospital and North Shore LIJ Health System. He has been an ophthalmologist for more than thirty years and specializes in cataract and vision correction micro-surgical procedures of the eye. Dr. Passarelli performed refractive surgery since its infancy in the early 1980s and has been performing LASIK surgery since its approval by the FDA in 1995.
Raju Sarwal, M.D.
Dr. Raju Sarwal, a board certified ophthalmologist, and the Assistant Medical Director and partner of Long Island Eye Surgical Care, P.C. specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma and cataracts.
Dr. Sarwal completed his undergraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania in 1994 where he graduated magna cum laude. He completed his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in 1998 and his residency at University of Illinois at Chicago Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2002. Dr. Sarwal received his sub specialty training in glaucoma at the Duke Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina in 2003.
Dr. Sarwal is currently the president of the Suffolk Ophthalmogy Society. He is on faculty at Good Samaritan Hospital, Southside Hospital, and Long Island Ambulatory Surgery Center. He is a member of the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Sarwal has been named by Best Doctors of America every year since 2009.
