Both renowned for their advanced skills in minimally invasive surgery, David E. Rivadeneira, MD and Jill C. Genua, MD are board-certified colon and rectal surgeons at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center’s Colon and Rectal Program.

David E. Rivadeneira, MD is the Chief of Colon & Rectal Surgery and Director of the Colon & Rectal Program and, with Dr. Genua, provides a full range of consultative, diagnostic, and therapeutic services involving surgery for patients with diseases of the small bowel, colon, rectum, and anus. Dr. Rivadeneira was recently seen on CBS Healthwatch, discussing colon cancer and laparoscopic procedures.

Dr. Rivadeneira is recognized as a national leader in laparoscopic colon surgery, and has extensive experience teaching laparoscopic colon surgery to surgeons throughout the United States and abroad.

Jill C. Genua, MD is the Attending Colon and Rectal Surgeon at the St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center Colon and Rectal program and was featured in the 2009 and 2010 America’s Guide to Top Surgeons. Dr. Genua has a specialized interest in women’s health issues, such as pelvic floor disorders.

Both Dr. Rivadeneira and Dr. Genua are nationally recognized, board-certified experts in the field and offer the latest surgical procedures, including laparoscopic (key hole) colon and rectal procedures, single incision laparoscopic/port surgery (SILS), transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) and other minimally invasive procedures, all of which result in smaller incisions, less pain and faster recovery times.

They will also host Long Island’s Colorectal Disease Symposium at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center on May 21, 2011.
