Learn or brush up on proportion, composition, artist anatomy, color sense and more using age old illustration exercises. There will be informal critiques at the end of every class and a more formal critique on the last day of the session (June 27th). Students will also be encouraged to use a sketchbook throughout the course. Students must bring their own drawing pad and are welcome to use studio pens, pencils, markers and paints.

Jim Dine’s Pinocchio series is one of many art historical approaches to the great theme of Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Join cultural historian Charles A. Riley II, PhD on an inter-disciplinary hunt for this theme in the work of Dine, Bernini, Rodin, Picasso, Dali and several contemporary masters, as well as opera, ballet and film.
