This Memorial Day weekend, Uniting Against Lung Cancer will host its annual “Kites for a Cure®,” a family kite fly to benefit lung cancer research on Saturday, May 26th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. (rain date May 27th) at Coopers Beach in Southampton. Over 1,000 kite flyers and lung cancer supporters are anticipated at the event, now in its sixth year.
“Kites for a Cure” is the most affordable family fundraiser in the Hamptons this summer. For a $30 donation at the event or online, guests will receive a high-quality kite which can be decorated on site with drawings, names, wishes, or messages to be flown in the sky over the ocean. A $300 donation covers a family of up to five flyers. All proceeds will go to Uniting Against Lung Cancer’s national lung cancer research grant program. Parking is free.
Uniting Against Lung Cancer was founded in 2001 in memory of Joan Scarangello, a Southampton resident and non-smoker who lost her battle with lung cancer. In just eight years, the foundation has awarded over $8.5 million in research grants into diagnosis, treatment and a cure for lung cancer. Lung cancer is the nation’s #1 cancer killer, claiming more than 160,000 lives in the U.S. this year alone.
To R.S.V.P., make a donation or learn more about Uniting Against Lung Cancer, please call: 212-627-5500 or visit the foundation’s web site at www.UnitingAgainstLungCancer.org.
