I’m beginning to realize that if you’re having a BBQ on Long Island and Blue
Point Brewing Company isn’t hosting, or at least an attendee, well, then your
BBQ probably sucks.

Blue Point just has that corner locked down, son.

This Friday (7/23) at Mirabelle Tavern in Stony Brook will continue the
Patchogue brewery’s barbeque domination, as Mirabelle is throwing their 1st
Annual Summer BBQ from 5:00PM - 10:00PM.

$22.00 = Unlimited BBQ.
$15.00 = Unlimited Blue Point Brew.
$11.00 = For kids ages ten and under.

There will also be cigar rolling! Reservations are not required!

Social Sports Kitchen (http://www.socialsportskitchen.com) was opened a few
years back by Wayne Chrebet (former wide receiver for the New York Jets)
and Danny Gagnon (Season Five “Top Chef” Contestant), and is located across from
Hofstra University, at the former site of Bogart’s (who remembers drinking here
when they were, oh, I don’t know, twelve?).

This Samuel Adams dinner is the first beer-related event that I’ve seen
the upscale Uniondale bar/restaurant/lounge organize, so let’s hope it goes well
and there’s more in the future.

Another installment of Firkin Friday at DEKS American Restaurant in Rocky Point
on 7/16, which…yep, you guessed it—lands on a Friday!

This edition will feature a cask of Fuller’s ESB (the ESB stands for Extra
Special Bitter, and its style is English in tradition), which possesses an A-
rating on BeerAdvocate (http://www.beeradvocate.com). That means it’s good.

Starts at 6:00PM. Ends when the Firkin is kicked.

I also heard something about a Goose Island Sofie (also an A- on BeerAdvocate)
giveaway at some point during the evening, so don’t miss out.

All joking aside, I want to hang out with the dude Greenport Harbor Brewing used

in the image above.

Why?

He looks friendly. He looks like he knows how to play the banjo and would have
the patience to teach me said instrument. He also looks like he would let me
take his shotgun on the porch to practice my accuracy with some old beer cans.

He just looks like the damn man.

I wonder if he’ll be attending Greenport’s one year birthday party on Saturday,
7/17, from 4:00PM - 8:00PM?

You never know. Regardless, you should swing by and join in on the BIRF
celebration. I talked with Greenport, and in addition to the standard five
summer beers featured now, and some of the limited releases throughout the year,

they’re also going to have a special treat for all attendees:

“And also a special release…a special Belgian Blonde Ale. Brewed with Pilsner
malt, First Gold and Saaz hops, an addition of honey, and a special blend of
spices in the kettle. This lovely golden-hued ale has a subtle fruitiness and a
spicy nose with notes of lemon and lavender.”
