Blue Point Releases Toasted Lager, Summer Ale Cans

Blue Point Brewing Company, established by Mark Burford and Pete Cotter in 1998, has packaged and released Toasted Lager, its 5.50% ABV, copper-hued flagship, and Summer Ale, in cans.

Based in Patchogue, Blue Point Brewing Company is the first brewery on Long Island to can-package beer.

“As the old dogs in this race, it’s cool to be able to keep pushing the craft revolution forward,” said Mark Burford, brewmaster. “Everyone deserves to have craft beer available to them all over the Island. Now we don’t have to sneak bottles anywhere.”

Description of Toasted Lager:

The best thing to come out of a brick oven since pizza. Well, we’ve upgraded from our original direct-fire brick kettle, but our flagship Toasted Lager still has the same toasted flavor it was named for. Copper in color, our most popular and unique brew is made from six different malts, including English Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Wheat, and Belgian Caravienna. Toasted Lager’s balanced flavor of malt and hops makes for easy drinking and the special lager yeast we use produces an exceptional, long-lasting smooth finish.

Description of Summer Ale:

There is a cure for Summertime Blues and the prescription is simple: 1 six-pack of Blue Point Brewing Company’s Summer Ale. Adult dosage: 12-oz servings as needed until mood improves. The delicious golden taste of Summer Ale comes from a substantial portion of wheat malt added to a traditional barley malt mix which gives this delicious brew a unique tartness not found in many beers today. No surprise – this light, thirst-quenching brew is best enjoyed on hot Summer days.

White IPA, a 6.00% ABV amalgam of witbier and IPA, is scheduled as Blue Point Brewing Company’s next canned beer.

No release date is available.

greatsouthbaybrewery.com

Great South Bay Brewery bottle-releases Sea Biscuit Hefeweizen, the ninth beer from the Bay Shore-based brewery’s Tasting Room Exclusive Brew Series, on May 03 (3:00PM).

According to Phil Ebel, director of sales and operations, “approximately 330 bottles were produced.”

Description of Sea Biscuit Hefeweizen:

While Germany is 4000 miles across the Atlantic, you can get a little taste of it here on the Great South Bay with Sea Biscuit Hefeweizen. Following old Bavarian standards dating back to the Middle Ages, Sea Biscuit was designed and brewed as an authentic German Weissbier. Choice German wheat and barley were selected and combined with Hallertau Mittelfruh hops and fermented using a traditional German Hefeweizen yeast which produces the genuine characteristics of this beer. Clean malty sweetness balanced with mild hops, Sea Biscuit finishes with subtle notes of vanilla, clove and banana. This beer’s thick, foamy head pours beautifully over the crown of your glass bringing you back to the olden days when real beer was just beer and the wiser men drank weizen…Prost!

Style: Hefeweizen
Color: 2.3 SRM
Alcohol by Volume: 4.90%
Bitterness: 12 IBU
Grains: Malted Wheat, German Pilsner Malt
Hops: Hallertau Mittelfruh

Sea Biscuit Hefeweizen is Great South Bay Brewery’s sixth bottle production. Kölsch, a 4.70% ABV kölsch, was released on April 26.
