Bierkraft hosts a 15-tap takeover with Greenport Harbor Brewing Company on February 23 (7:00PM).

The temporary draft hostage includes the release of Supeh Freekeh, a 5.8% ABV English ale brewed with freekeh, created by Bierkraft, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, and Back Forty.

Description of Supeh Freekeh:

Too often, a collaboration brew is more of an excuse for brewers to get together and have a few beers at one or the other’s brewery.  Sure a new (and sometimes great) beer is brewed, but far too often the end product does not reflect each of the collaborators.

Supeh Freekeh, the collaborative effort between the teams at Greenport Harbor, Bierkraft, and Back 40, began with the commitment that everyone would be reflected in the beer we brewed.  As homebrewers, professional brewers, chefs, beer geeks, and foodies, we brought together techniques, ingredients and experiences to craft a beer that we feel is both unique and very much a reflection of us all.

Supeh Freekeh is a West Yorkshire ale at its foundation, brewed with a blend of Golden Promise and Maris Otter base malts, crystal and
caramel wheat malts, and Freekeh, an unmalted green wheat.  Homemade burnt candy sugar boosts the gravity and adds a light caramel sweetness.  A single addition of English Fuggle and Golding hops provide just a hint of balancing bitterness. What started as a simple English ale is transformed to a slightly smoky, perfumed and exotic take on a classic style.
