WEHM’s New Release Tuesdays

September picks for 92.9&96.9 WEHM New Release Tuesdays with Harry Wareing (airing every Tuesday night from 9-10pm) features grunge gods as well as collaborations aplenty.

imageHard rock/grunge legends Pearl Jam add to their lengthy back catalog with Backspacer along with the single “The Fixer.” Frontman Eddie Vedder’s voice is at its harrowing emotive best and the instrumentalists create interesting textures behind him.

imageThe popular singer/songwriter Pete Yorn and ingénue actress-cum-singer Scarlett Johansson collaborate on Break Up and the leadoff track/single “Relator.” Johansson displays smoky, almost jazzy vocals and Yorn stays in the background along with very atypical but catchy, percussive musical accompaniment.

imageMonsters of Folk is a modern singer/songwriter supergroup featuring Bright Eyes mastermind Conor Oberst, M. Ward, Jim James and Mike Mogis. Their eponymous debut and the track “Say Please” shows their sound as more of a collective effort, with multi-part vocal harmonies and a catchy melody.
