Startled

Startled
By Adam Fisher

I am startled

by cherry blossoms’

pink-ruffled, pom-poms—

you’d want to rub

your face in them,

like a small boy rubbing his face

in the soft fur of his dog.

They dance in the breeze,

do cartwheels on the lawn.

They’re luscious,

icing on cupcakes.

Adam Fisher’s poems have appeared in a wide variety of publications.

His three books of poems are: Rooms, Airy Rooms, Dancing Alone, and Enough To Stop The Heart.
